Method
Every report runs the same three steps, and each step leaves a trace.

Scope and definitions
We first define the industry boundary and statistical basis against China's official industrial classification, then fix the question the report answers. The basis is stated up front and does not change mid-report.

Two-source cross-check
Public external sources are checked line by line against our internal factory database. Where the two disagree, the report says so, which one we follow, and why.
- 03
Conclusions on the record
Conclusions state what they rest on; cited public data carries its source and publication date; where confidence is low we give the uncertainty range rather than hedging in prose.
Sources and definitions
- External
- Public trade-association membership rolls and statistical reports, customs import/export data, National Bureau of Statistics and provincial statistical communiqués, listed-company filings.
- Internal
- The Tianxia Gongchang factory database, covering 4.8 million real Chinese manufacturing enterprises, with business scope, capacity, export tags and hiring status.
- On the numbers
- "4.8 million" counts identified real manufacturing enterprises, excluding traders, sole proprietors and deregistered entities. Where a report uses a different basis, it says so at that point.
Citation and corrections
- Citing us
- Credit "Tianxia Gongchang Research" and link to the original — no separate permission needed. For full-text republication, write to us first.
- Reporting an error
- Write to research@in-equal.com with the article link and the specific passage. For data disputes, please include the source you rely on.
- How we correct
- Once verified, we amend the original and log the change under "Corrections" at the foot of the piece: date, prior wording, new wording. We do not make silent edits.
Relationship to the Tianxia Gongchang platform
The institute publishes research; the platform provides the full factory list and contact details. The two are strictly separated in form: the institute publishes no directly contactable company directory, and the platform publishes no landscape judgements. Every report closes with a link to the full factory list on Tianxia Gongchang.
